I picked up a bunch of stuff from ebay and some of it was etched with an "x" and the letters STAM. Google yielded no information, would anyone here happen to know why they would be marked this way?

first: yes, I've searched the forum and read threads on procedure. Now, as a hypothetical, lets say you had both l and d isomers present, with another ACHIRAL isomer... how would that achiral isomer affect the resolution process/results?
